Donation of surgical masks is part of larger effort to support healthcare workers amid COVID-19 fight

Corning Incorporated today announced a donation of surgical masks to Inspira Health Foundation in Vineland, N.J. This foundation is overseeing the distribution of all medical supplies to its hospital facilities supporting the urgent needs of frontline medical staff combating the COVID-19 crisis.

The donated masks were delivered on Wednesday, April 15 and is part of a larger Corning initiative to donate 150,000 surgical masks to regional hospitals in New Jersey, New York, Virginia and North Carolina. Corning’s Pharmaceutical Glass operations include glass tubing manufacturing facilities in Vineland, NJ, and Pisa, Italy.

“Our global teams have been working to help source essential supplies for healthcare providers fighting COVID-19, while also ensuring the health and safety of our employees. Leveraging our supply chain, we were able to source and donate surgical masks desperately needed to keep frontline medical workers safe,” said Dr. Michael Lappi, Corning chief medical officer.

“In this time of uncertainty, Inspira Health is fortunate to have generous community donors such as Corning step up to support our patients and heroic health care professionals,” said Nick Sena, interim chief development officer of Inspira Health Foundation. “The support and partnership of business leaders are vital to address the scale and scope of our response to this pandemic.”
