The company’s energy management program recognized for ninth consecutive year

Corning Incorporated today announced it has been named a 2022 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its continued commitment to energy efficiency. The company also received a Sustained Excellence designation.

In its 2022 award application, Corning highlighted improved companywide energy productivity and increased use of renewable energy. Additionally, the company’s Global Energy Management program advanced its water conservation and waste management commitments.

This year marks Corning’s ninth consecutive year earning a Partner of the Year award and its seventh consecutive year receiving a Sustained Excellence designation, which is reserved for companies achieving Partner of the Year status several years in a row and making continued improvements to their energy management programs.

“We believe that how we do things is as important as what we accomplish. At Corning, we strive to continually integrate energy efficiency across our global operations and this recognition highlights that progress,” said Mark Steen, Ph.D., vice president, Sustainability and Climate Initiatives. “We’re planning to reach even higher levels of energy efficiency as we work to meet our new greenhouse gas reduction goals, which are aligned with the Paris Agreement.”

“We know it’s going to take all of us working together to tackle the climate crisis, and the 2022 ENERGY STAR award-winning partners are demonstrating what it takes to build a more sustainable future,” said Michael S. Regan, EPA administrator. “These companies are showing once again that taking action in support of a clean energy economy can be good not only for the environment, but also for business and customers.”

Corning is a part of a select group of businesses and organizations that achieved this award, which is the EPA’s most prestigious. For a complete list of 2022 winners and more information about ENERGY STAR’s awards program, visit energystar.gov/awardwinners.
