Corning announced Wednesday, April 4, that Durham, North Carolina, will be the site of the first high-volume manufacturing facility for Corning Valor® Glass, an innovative new pharmaceutical glass packaging solution that the company launched in July 2017.
Government officials and key customers joined company leaders Wednesday in celebrating a Corning investment that will create more than 300 jobs in Durham.
“We’re grateful to work with so many leaders who share our vision,” said Wendell P. Weeks, Corning’s chairman, chief executive officer, and president. “We’re proud that Durham County’s talented workforce will help make Valor a reality for patients around the world. And we look forward to a very bright and growing future in this community.”
The facility is a significant investment that demonstrates Corning’s commitment to Valor Glass. It is part of a plan to invest $500 million and create 1,000 new U.S. jobs as the first part of an investment of $4 billion leading to 4,000 new high-tech jobs. Corning anticipates that the new facility will be operational by year-end 2019.
