Integrated Global Campaign to Connect the World Through Music & Technology

CORNING, N.Y., February 12, 2020  — The Corning® Gorilla® Glass business announced today the expansion of its global relationship with Playing For Change to showcase the power of music and technology to connect the world.

Playing For Change (PFC) is a global organization founded to inspire and connect the world through music, born from the belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people. The organization has collaborated with well-known artists from around the world, recording and filming musicians performing in their natural environments.

The collaboration between the Gorilla Glass business and PFC began in 2019 with a project showcasing the musical partnership of 11 different global artists on six different continents, each playing a verse from the Imagine Dragons hit song “Love,” from the band’s Origins album. The song received almost 2 million views on YouTube and Facebook.

“Playing For Change is proud to continue our partnership with Corning Gorilla Glass,” said PFC Founder Mark Johnson. “Together we use technology and music to connect hearts and inspire the world through the lens of music. One heart and one song at time.”

This week, the Gorilla Glass business will team up with PFC at the Tech2Innovate youth festival in New Delhi, India February 14-15. The event will include live performances by PFC artists as well as a fireside chat with PFC Founder Mark Johnson and Akshay Gupta, brand director, Gorilla Glass.

“Music is a universal language that allows us to connect to one another and share common ideas and in today’s digital life, music is shared, and even created through our mobile devices,” said Scott Forester, division vice president, marketing and innovation products, Gorilla Glass. “Tech2Innovate serves as an opportunity to bring PFC’s unique approach to music to India’s youth.”

In addition to the festival, the Gorilla Glass business will collaborate with PFC in 2020 through the continuous support of PFC artists and the integration of their music into the brand’s programs as well as providing devices to the PFC Foundation’s music education programs.

“Many of these music education programs are rich in cultural traditions but limited in economic resources, and the programs are free to children and provide instruction in vocals, dance, instruments, and musical theory,” Gupta said. “For many, it’s the first and only opportunity they would have to learn music and for some, it is their first opportunity to attend school of any kind.”
